Redefining private healthcare in Hereford

The Wye Clinic’s Platinum Package is all about you

Many people naturally worry about what will happen after their procedure… How do I get home? If after an eye operation, will I be able to put my eye drops in? Who’s making dinner? These are all perfectly normal worries and our Platinum Package deals with all your concerns.

You choose the help you need and we provide it, it’s as simple as that. You can pick and choose - we don’t mind - and remember Going Platinum is all about you.

 Your options

Chauffeur transfer

We’ve teamed up with Hereford’s Ultimate Chauffeurs to provide you with a seamless journey, to and from your appointment at The Wye Clinic, be it for a procedure or simply an appointment.

You will be told the name of your chauffeur in advance, as well as the planned collection time. Your car will be freshly cleaned, have a leather interior and will be of a level equivalent to an upmarket Audi A6. Your driver will respect your choice of COVID-19 precautions and will be courteous and helpful throughout your journey, carrying your luggage at each end of the journey, if needed. If for whatever reason your journey is delayed, don’t worry – your driver will let us know and you won’t miss your appointment. And – of course – your car will wait for you while you are in The Wye Clinic.

Luxury overnight accommodation & fine dining

The Wye Clinic is thrilled to be partnered with Hereford’s premier boutique hotel, the Castle House Hotel. After your appointment, you will be taken by chauffeur to the Castle House Hotel for a night of luxury and fine fare, if you wish.

Going Platinum includes a luxury bed & breakfast stay and £45 per person towards a wonderful dinner of your choice, before your chauffeur picks you up and returns you safely to your home. The Castle House Hotel has a number of different dining options, including à la carte and tasting menus; you simply choose the menu you would like. If you would like to bring a partner, no problem – but it is important to let us know at the time of booking your Platinum Package.

Help with your postoperative care

Be it a concern about popping in your eye drops, or worries about a dressing, Platinum has it covered. Thanks to The Wye Clinic’s close association with Katherine Harriet Bespoke Home Care, you will be visited – either at home or in the Castle House Hotel – by one of our trusted health professionals, who can administer eye drops (if appropriate), give you further instruction on how to do it yourself, or simply just give you the reassurance that you need. In most cases, you will be visited once on the evening of your procedure and again the following morning.

If that’s not enough, we can arrange for a trusted health professional to stay with you overnight in your home, or for as long as is needed if you prefer. In this situation, you will need to have a clean spare room available; emergency communication equipment will be provided to ensure that, if you need help in the night, help is at hand within seconds. Please note that for home care packages, you will need to undergo an assessment by the Katherine Harriet team in advance of your Platinum Package booking.

How to book

When you book your procedure or appointment, simply let The Wye Clinic’s team know that you’d like to Go Platinum and we’ll handle the rest. Simply tell us which parts of the package you’d like and we will organise it for you, with most packages taking a minimum of ten days to put in place. From time to time, hotel availability may naturally vary, so please be patient if all your requests cannot be accommodated on a specific date.

How much does it cost?

The Platinum Package is not covered by private medical insurers, however, if you are insured and want to take advantage of Going Platinum, this can be purchased as a standalone package at the time of your booking.

Costs vary depending on which parts of the package you choose, plus where you live and the distances involved. As an example, as of April 2022, the total cost of a cataract procedure at The Wye Clinic, including a monofocal intraocular lens, surgeon’s fees, your follow-up, chauffeur journey to and from, for example, the Abergavenny area and transfers within Hereford, bed & breakfast for two at the Castle House Hotel, including £45 per person towards dinner, plus two visits by the Katherine Harriet team, would be £3760.

Does it include wine?

No. As Going Platinum is part of your healthcare, we cannot include alcoholic beverages as part of the package. However, if you wish to have a glass of wine, please discuss this with your consultant at the time of your appointment, as it may well be possible; you can of course purchase alcoholic beverages direct from the hotel.

Availability

The Castle House Hotel serves dinner four nights-a-week, so it will not always be possible to schedule your package to include food. Fortunately, Hereford has many other restaurants and options should you prefer to eat elsewhere. If hotel availability is limited, we can of course alter the date of your appointment to ensure you can Go Platinum.
