The coil service at The Wye Clinic is here to fit with you and your life. We understand that life can be hectic and have a service that has been designed with you in mind, making it as easy and stress-free as possible to have a coil fitted, removed or replaced. Whether for contraception or as part of a perimenopause management plan, you will have the same highly trained and experienced doctor every step of the way, ensuring continuity and reassurance at all times.
Our personalised approach
We start with a telephone consultation with the doctor. This initial appointment is over the telephone as it enables more flexibility for you, without the need to travel to the clinic. The purposes of this consultation are for us to listen to what you want, go through some health screening questions and develop a plan, in partnership with you. You will also have the chance to discuss which coil might be best suited to you. If your doctor thinks that it may be necessary to take swabs, this can usually be identified at this point.
Expert coil fitting for your peace of mind
The second step is an appointment at The Wye Clinic. You will be warmly welcomed into our beautiful listed building, reconditioned to the most exacting modern healthcare standards. We have a wide range of coils available and go to great lengths to ensure you are comfortable throughout your appointment. Follow-up appointments are not usually required, although are of course available, if needed.
Dr Holly Vaughan is a highly experienced specialist in the fitting of coils. She is also a qualified trainer, meaning her levels of expertise are called upon to train others all over the country.
Details of our coil fitting service
- Pre-screening telephone appointment (15mins) with the doctor. Non-refundable £150.00 deposit required when making this appointment.
- Coil fitting appointment. Arranged to suit you one to two weeks later (allow 30 minutes).
- The total fee for a standard coil fitting service including both appointments and the coil itself is £590.00. Occasionally swabs may be required and these would have an additional charge.

Dr Holly Vaughan
MBCHB DFRSH RCGP
Holly’s medical journey started at Leicester Medical School in 2004 continuing on to the West Midlands where she completed her training as a GP, becoming a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2014. She then made her way home to Herefordshire, joining a local GP surgery.
Women’s health has always been a keen interest of hers. She is an educator in family planning and sexual health, coil and implant fitting, as well as a tutor to GP trainees.
Harnessing her passion and skills, Holly takes a holistic approach using her training with the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine to help women understand all aspects of their health and well-being. They can then better navigate their individual journey through the perimenopause.
Empowering women to make positive, personalised choices, Holly firmly believes medicine is more than just treating illness; it is about communicating and connecting with the individual.
Holly is a proud mum of two young children and a small family business owner. She understands how important ‘feeling like you’ is.
Central location with Finance options available
You will find us easily in central Hereford. There is ample on-site parking, and we are very close to the new development, Old Market Shopping Centre and Waitrose. There is no need for a referral, nor do you need to have private medical insurance. Finance options are available for all our procedures, if required.
